Information on update: Warning extended further north and west over Scotland and end time extended through the afternoon. An area of rain, heavy in places, will continue to affect much of southern and central Scotland and parts of northern England.

This will bring fairly widespread totals of 15-25 mm, particularly over southern Scotland where a few places may receive 40-60 mm. The rain is likely to become lighter for a time later Thursday morning before turning heavy again in the afternoon across southern Scotland.
