Moderate Warning for Rain
Issued: 9:59 AM Oct. 3, 2025 – EUMETNET - MeteoAlarm
Information on update: Update to extend warning into Saturday to cater for further rainfall. A band of heavy rain associated with Storm Amy will cross Northern Ireland during Friday, followed by blustery showers and then another band of heavy rain overnight. This second band of rain clearing southeastwards during Saturday morning.

Accumulations of around 15 mm are possible within 2-3 hours in association with the rain bands, with 20-30 mm expected in total through the warning period. Following rainfall in previous days, this could cause further flooding and some travel disruption. The rain will be accompanied by very strong winds, for which separate warnings have been issued.

Severe Warning for Wind
Issued: 9:23 AM Oct. 3, 2025 – EUMETNET - MeteoAlarm
Information on update: Wind speeds and the likelihood of impacts have increased. The warning end time has been brought forward with a new warning to be issued to cover Saturday,. Storm Amy will bring a spell of damaging winds, initially in western areas during Friday evening before gradually transferring northeastwards through the night. During this period, wind gusts of 60-70 mph are likely fairly widely, with 70-80 mph in more exposed areas, and may reach 100 mph in some exposed parts of western Scotland, particularly around Tiree, western Lochaber and Skye for a time this evening. 

This will lead to dangerous conditions with travel and power disruption.

Moderate Warning for Wind
Issued: 9:23 AM Oct. 3, 2025 – EUMETNET - MeteoAlarm
Information on update: Warning end time extended to the end of Saturday, and text updated accordingly. Storm Amy is expected to bring a spell of strong winds to Northern Ireland later on Friday and overnight into early Saturday. South to southwesterly winds will increase during the afternoon, peaking during the evening with gusts of 50-60 mph in many areas, and potentially in excess of 70 mph in more exposed places, especially along parts of the north coast.

Winds will ease somewhat through Saturday morning, but it will remain fairly windy through the rest of the day, with gusts of 60-70 mph still possible along the north coast and more generally 45-55 mph inland.
