Thunderstorms have developed along the foothills. Some of these thunderstorms have the potential to be severe bringing large hail, heavy rain and strong wind gusts.

Fast-moving and rapidly rising water can sweep vehicles away and damage infrastructure.

Heavy rain can cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility.

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain.
