Severe thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and will move to the east into the evening. These severe thunderstorms will be capable of producing damaging hail, very strong wind gust and heavy rain.

Hail will be the primary threat in the afternoon with wind gusts becoming the main threat through the evening hours.

Strong wind gusts can damage trees, buildings and overturn vehicles.

Large hail can cause significant damage and injury.

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain.
