For King Island, the west coast, and adjacent southern and central parts of the state: DAMAGING WESTERLY WINDS of 55 to 65 km/h with peak gusts around 120 km/h developing early Thursday morning about the exposed coasts, King Island and elevated terrain. DAMAGING WIND GUSTS around 100 km/h developing early Thursday morning in the remainder of the western area. DAMAGING GUSTS are more likely with showers and thunderstorms.
For the northeast and Furneaux Islands: DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 100km/h are forecast to develop during Thursday morning more likely with showers and thunderstorms as a cold front moves through. DAMAGING WINDS averaging 55 to 65 km/h with gusts reaching 100 km/h are also possible through the afternoon about exposed coasts of the state.
DAMAGING WINDS are expected to contract to the south and southwest of the state by late Thursday evening and eventually ease during Friday morning.
Locations which may be affected include St Helens, Strahan, New Norfolk, Currie, Scottsdale and Whitemark.
