The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 5:10 pm, a severe thunderstorm likely to produce damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding was detected near Cessnock and Bellbird. This thunderstorm is moving towards the northeast. It is forecast to affect Kurri Kurri, Abermain and Pelaw Main by 5:25 pm and Maitland, Morpeth and East Maitland by 5:40 pm.
31.2 mm was recorded at Moss Vale in the 30 minutes to 2:15 pm.
