...WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM AKST WEDNESDAY... * WHAT...South winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph expected. * WHERE...City and Borough of Sitka. * WHEN...Until 9 PM AKST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Use extra caution if traveling by land, sea, or air. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Multiple systems will push into the panhandle through mid week with rounds of strong to near high wind gusts expected. The first round of strong winds will begin tonight for wind gusts up to 40 mph. A brief lull is expected late Tuesday night before a stronger round of wind gusts start again Wednesday morning through Wednesday evening. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... For the Small Craft Advisory, southeast winds 25 to 35 kt with gusts up to 50 kt and seas 16 to 21 ft expected. * WHERE...Cape Decision to Cape Edgecumbe out to 15 NM. * WHEN...For the Gale Warning, until 3 PM AKST Wednesday. For the Small Craft Advisory, from 3 PM to 6 PM AKST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Strong winds will cause hazardous seas which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. An additional system will slide north along our coast through Tuesday evening, bringing southeasterly strong gale force sustained winds with gusts to storm force into Wednesday. As winds increase, fresh southerly seas will also build to near 20 to 25 ft for the majority of our coastal zones.
