...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 630 PM PDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...North Central San Diego County in southwestern California... * WHEN...Until 630 PM PDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Some low-water crossings may become impassable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 430 PM PDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Valley Center, Escondido, S7 - East Grade Rd, Lake Henshaw, Palomar Mountain, Palomar Mountain State Park, La Jolla Indian Reservation, Rincon Indian Reservation, San Pasqual Indian Reservation and Pauma Valley. - https://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... ...COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM PDT WEDNESDAY... ...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM PDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Large breaking waves of 3 to 6 feet with sets up to 8 feet, highest at south and southwest-facing beaches. Strong and dangerous rip and longshore currents. Minor coastal flooding from a combination of high surf and high astronomical tides during the evenings. * WHERE...Beaches of Orange and San Diego Counties. * WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, until 11 PM PDT Wednesday. For the High Surf Advisory, until 11 PM PDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with isolated road closures expected. Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and beach erosion. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...While surf diminishes gradually into Wednesday, the high astronomical tides linger into mid-week which could continue to bring minor coastal flooding during evening high tides. Predicted higher high tides: Newport Beach: 7.0 feet at 7:59 PM. La Jolla: 6.9 feet at 7:54 PM. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. For the Heat Advisory, high temperatures around 80 near the coast to the lower to mid 90s for higher coastal terrain. * WHERE...Orange County Coastal Areas and San Diego County Coastal Areas. * WHEN...For the Extreme Heat Warning, until 8 PM PDT Wednesday. For the Heat Advisory, from 8 PM Wednesday to 8 PM PDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Major to Extreme HeatRisk through Wednesday. Warm overnight low temperature will limit relief from the heat.
