Coconino County in north central Arizona...This includes the Colorado River between river miles 156 and 158. * Until 245 AM MST Tuesday. * At 756 PM MST, a river gauge on the Cataract Creek reported a rapid rise of 5 feet from thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the Havasu Creek basin. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding in and around the Havasu Creek basin. SOURCE...River gauge reported. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of areas in and around the Havasu Creek basin. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Little Navajo Falls, Mooney Falls, Beaver Falls, Supai, Hualapai Hilltop and Havasupai Reservation. This includes the Colorado River between river miles 156 and 158. This includes the following swimming holes... All swimming holes on Havasu Creek near Supai. This includes the following creeks, washes and rivers... Colorado River, Little Coyote Canyon, Pasture Wash and Havasu Creek. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Campers and hikers should hustle to higher ground immediately! Stay away from creeks and washes! Foot bridges will be washed out in Supai Campground. Some campsites will be flooded. ...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 11 PM MST /MIDNIGHT MDT/ THIS EVENING THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive and long duration rainfall. * WHERE...All of northern and central Arizona. * WHEN...From Sunday evening through Tuesday evening. * IMPACTS...Flooding will be possible over burn areas, low-water crossings, creeks, streams, washes and swimming holes. Larger creeks and rivers may exceed bankfull. Flooding of paved roads and highway underpasses will be possible. Unpaved roads could become muddy and impassable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Low pressure will interact with tropical moisture from the eastern Pacific. This could potentially produce numerous showers and embedded thunderstorms, with heavy rain that will fall over saturated soils and burn scars. This could lead to localized flash flooding and rises on local rivers, such as the Little Colorado River. - Additional information is available at weather.gov/flagstaff.
