...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 715 AM CDT THIS MORNING FOR SOUTHEASTERN BURNETT AND SOUTHWESTERN WASHBURN COUNTIES... At 510 AM CDT Friday, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms produced heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. The storms have now moved out of the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Spooner, Shell Lake, Saint Croix Band Bashaw area, Sarona, Spooner Lake, McKenzie Lake, Saint Criox Band Gaslyn area and Birch Island Lake. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In Wisconsin, Ashland, Bayfield, Burnett, Douglas, Sawyer, and Washburn Counties. This includes the Tribal Lands of the Red Cliff Band, the St. Croix Band in Burnett County, the Lac Courte Oreilles Reservation, the Fond du Lac Band, the Bad River Reservation, the Mille Lacs Band, Big Sandy Lake, Hinckley, Lena Lake and, East Lake areas and the Bois Forte Band, Nett Lake, Lake Vermilion and, Deer Creek areas. Other locations including the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, Voyageurs National Park and Madeline Island.
