...THUNDERSTORMS APPROACHING THE WATERS... The areas affected include... Tidal Potomac from Indian Head to Cobb Island MD... Tidal Potomac from Key Bridge to Indian Head MD... At 355 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated scattered developing thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. If any of these storms continue to strengthen, stronger winds will be possible. These thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 10 nm northwest of Key Bridge to 10 nm northwest of Mason Neck State Park to 21 nm northwest of Quantico, moving northeast at 15 knots. Locations impacted include... Fort Washington, Tidal Basin, Reagan National Airport, Gunston Hall, Mason Neck State Park, Woodrow Wilson Bridge, Key Bridge, Fort Hunt, National Harbor, and Alexandria. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A special marine warning may eventually be required when these strong thunderstorms reaches the nearshore waters. Boaters should consider heading for shore before these strong thunderstorms arrives. &&
