...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM THIS MORNING TO 6 PM EST THIS EVENING FOR MUCH OF VIRGINIA... The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a Red Flag Warning for gusty winds and low relative humidities, which is in effect from 11 AM this morning to 6 PM EST this evening. * AFFECTED AREA...All of central, eastern, and southeast Virginia, except for the Eastern Shore. * TIMING...From late morning into the early evening. * WINDS...West 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 20 percent. * TEMPERATURES...Up to 69. * IMPACTS...The combination of dry vegetation...strong winds... and low humidity will be favorable for rapid fire growth. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior. &&
