Street flooding in the town of Nehalem begins at this point, usually during the high tide. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:15 PM PST Monday the stage was 13.2 feet. - Bankfull stage is 13.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late this evening to a crest of 17.7 feet late tomorrow morning. ...COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 5 PM PST TUESDAY... * WHAT...Tidal overflow flooding expected. * WHERE...Tillamook County Coast. * WHEN...From Noon to 5 PM PST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding, up to one foot above ground level, during high tide is expected in the low lying areas near bays, sloughs, and the lower reaches of the coastal rivers. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...While the Garibaldi tidal gauge is anticipated to only peak around 9.6 ft near 3 PM Tuesday, rivers flowing into the Nehalem and Tillamook Bays will be running unusually high. Despite rivers likely trending downward during this time, tidal overflow flooding may actually increase temporarily around high tide Tuesday afternoon. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Coastal Flood Advisory means that tidal overflow flooding is expected. Coastal residents in the warned area should be alert for rising water, and take appropriate action to protect life and property. &&

The most noticable flood impacts are to low-lying roads and some buildings near Dougherty Slough and the lower Wilson River. Widespread flooding of low lying dairy and pasture land and some rural access roads from Wilson River Loop Road downstream to Hwy 101 and along Makinster Rd and Goodspeed Rd west of Hwy 101 can be expected as well. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 2:30 PM PST Monday the stage was 9.5 feet. - Bankfull stage is 10.5 feet. - Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage this afternoon, then crest at 15.0 feet tonight. The river may fall below flood stage again on Tuesday, but will rise again late Tuesday evening before ultimately falling below flood stage early Wednesday morning. Landslides possible in areas of steep terrain, and debris flows possible over recently burned areas. * WHERE...Counties in Oregon: Benton, Clackamas, Clatsop, Columbia, Hood River, Lane, Lincoln, Linn, Marion, Multnomah, Polk, Tillamook, Washington, and Yamhill. Counties in Washington: Clark, Cowlitz, Pacific, Skamania, and Wahkiakum. * WHEN...Through late Thursday night. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Landslides and debris flows are possible during this flood event. People, structures, and roads located below steep slopes, in canyons, and near the mouths of canyons may be at serious risk from rapidly moving landslides. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - A prolonged atmospheric river is expected to bring periods of heavy rain to northwest Oregon and southwest Washington Monday through Wednesday, with periods of lighter rain continuing Thursday into Friday. This weather system will result in an increased risk for flooding. Additional forecast rain amounts from 4 PM Monday through 4 AM Thursday range from 2.5 to 5 inches in the Cowlitz Valley, Lower Columbia, Portland/Vancouver metro and northern Willamette Valley, 1.5 to 2.5 inches in the central Willamette Valley, and 0.75-1.5 inches in the southern Willamette Valley. Forecast rain amounts reach 6 to 12 inches in the Cascades, Cascade foothills, Coast Range and the coast, except 1.5-3.5 inches from Florence to Newport and in areas of higher terrain in Lane County. Rivers draining the coastal mountains and several Willamette Tributaries have a 50 to 70% chance of reaching minor flood stage or higher. The Pudding River at Aurora and Johnson Creek at Sycamore have an 80% chance of reaching minor flood stage or higher. Chances for flooding along the Willamette mainstem remains low at 5-15%. Urban flooding is possible and water on roadways will increase the risk of hydroplaning and car accidents.
