Southeastern Ulster County in east central New York... * Until 100 AM EDT. * At 948 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to 1 inch of rain has fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Poughkeepsie, New Paltz, Wallkill, Milton, Highland, Modena, Lloyd, Gardiner, Ardonia, Jenkinstown, Clintondale, Ireland Corners, Clintondale Station, Forest Glen, Sylva, Tuckers Corner, Putt Corners, Flint, Ohioville and New Hurley. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. At 928 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Fairview, or near Poughkeepsie, moving north at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Poughkeepsie, Kingston, Rhinebeck, Hyde Park, Milton, Pleasant Valley, Highland, Red Hook, Millbrook, Fairview, Red Oaks Mill, Lake Katrine, Stanfordville, Staatsburg, Port Ewen, Lloyd, Esopus, Milan, Tuckers Corner, and Salt Point. This includes Interstate 87 near exit 18. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
