...EXTREME COLD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY EVENING THROUGH SATURDAY AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 to 35 below possible with the coldest wind chills in the southwest Adirondacks and the spine of the southern Green Mountains. * WHERE...In New York, Northern Warren, Hamilton, Northern Fulton, and Northern Herkimer Counties. In Vermont, Bennington and Western Windham Counties. * WHEN...From Friday evening through Saturday afternoon. * IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 to 35 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside. To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to drip slowly. Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
