...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM MDT THIS AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Arroyo and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Southeastern Taos County in north central New Mexico... * WHEN...Until 500 PM MDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. Dangerous flows over low-water crossings. Water over roadways. Overflowing poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 155 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause arroyo and small stream flooding. Up to 1.25 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.25 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Shady Brook. - Hazardous water levels are expected in Tienditas Creek, Rio Fernando de Taos, Rio Chiquito, Rito de la Olla, Palociento Creek, and eventually Rio Grande del Rancho. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Both localized and distant heavy rainfall will create sudden and dangerous flows in arroyos and over low water crossings. &&

...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 8 PM MDT SATURDAY... ...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM MDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...For the first Heat Advisory, temperatures up to 101. For the second Heat Advisory, temperatures up to 101 expected. * WHERE...Middle Rio Grande Valley including the Albuquerque Metro Area, Sandia and Manzano Mountains including Edgewood, Northwest Plateau, and Espanola Valley. * WHEN...For the first Heat Advisory, until 8 PM MDT this evening. For the second Heat Advisory, from noon to 8 PM MDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The hottest temperatures in the low 100s will be along the San Juan and Rio Grande River Valleys. Record high temperatures are expected. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
