...INCREASED FIRE DANGER ACROSS PORTIONS OF NORTHWEST NORTH CAROLINA SUNDAY THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING... Northwest to west winds are going to increase to 15 to 25 mph today, with gusts up to 50 mph across the area. Humidity levels are expected to drop into the low to mid 30s during the afternoon hours. Continued drying fuels combined with these aforementioned conditions will result in an increased danger of wildfires spreading. Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn. If you do burn, use extreme caution since fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.
