For the Extreme Heat Warning, dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 113 to 115 expected. * WHERE...Portions of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi. * WHEN...For the Heat Advisory, until 8 PM CDT this evening. For the Extreme Heat Warning, from 11 AM to 8 PM CDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
