For the Gale Watch, north winds 20 to 30 kt with gusts up to 45 kt and waves 2 to 5 ft possible. * WHERE...Grand Portage to Grand Marais MN and Grand Marais to Taconite Harbor MN. * WHEN...For the Gale Warning, until 6 AM CST Wednesday. For the Gale Watch, from Thursday afternoon through Thursday evening. * IMPACTS...Strong winds will cause hazardous waves which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Storm force gusts are possible this evening and again Thursday. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions. ...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT THROUGH LATE THURSDAY NIGHT... * WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations between 3 and 7 inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 60 mph. * WHERE...North Lake and Cook Counties. This includes the Tribal Lands of the Grand Portage Reservation. This also includes the Boundary Waters eastern and central area. * WHEN...From late Wednesday night through late Thursday night. * IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... ...WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 AM CST WEDNESDAY... * WHAT...Northwest winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected. * WHERE... Cook and Lake Counties. This includes the Tribal Lands of the Grand Portage Reservation. This also includes the Boundary Waters eastern and central area. * WHEN...Until 3 AM CST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The strong winds will be from the northwest which will result in strong crosswinds along MN-61 and portions of MN-1. A brief period of gusts up to 60mph is possible between 9pm and 2am. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
