* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Southwestern Jewell County in north central Kansas...
Northwestern Mitchell County in north central Kansas...
Osborne County in north central Kansas...
Southeastern Smith County in north central Kansas...

* WHEN...Until 1000 AM CDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads
have been closed and barricaded due to flooding.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1019 PM CDT, local law enforcement reported heavy rain in the
warned area due to thunderstorms has resulted in widespread
flooding. Flooding is ongoing on Highway 24 between Osborne and
Downs and numerous roads have been barricaded due to flooding.
Between 2 and 5 inches of rain have already fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible in
the warned area.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Osborne, Downs, Cawker City, Tipton and Portis.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
