* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...White River at Muncie.

* WHEN...Until late Friday evening.

* IMPACTS...At 15.0 feet, Evacuations may be necessary of residents
east of Burlington Street and south of 12th Street.  State Road 32
east of Muncie floods.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 9:30 AM EDT Wednesday the stage was 9.0 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 9:30 AM EDT Wednesday was 9.0 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 15.5
feet tomorrow morning. It will then fall below flood stage
late Friday morning.
- Flood stage is 9.0 feet.

* WHAT...Major flooding is forecast. This approaches the flood of
record.

* WHERE...White River at Anderson.

* WHEN...Until late Sunday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 24.0 feet, Water nearing top of levee on right bank.
Evacuations of the following areas in Anderson should have
occurred: Park Place, Riverside Drive, Irondale, Alexandria Pike,
Hollywood Estates, Phar-Mor Plaza area, Dewey Street Plant of
Anderson Water Pollution Control, Moss Island Road, Rose Street,
Hazlett Steet, West 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th, and 7th Streets, Henry
Street and Sycamore Street.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 9:30 AM EDT Wednesday the stage was 6.8 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
this afternoon to a crest of 22.1 feet tomorrow morning. It
will then fall below flood stage late Saturday evening.
- Flood stage is 10.0 feet.

The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Madison County in central Indiana...

* Until 215 PM EDT.

* At 1041 AM EDT, emergency management reported thunderstorms
producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 4
inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 0.25 to
1.25 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches
are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already
occurring.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
producing flash flooding.

SOURCE...Emergency management reported.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Anderson, Elwood, Alexandria, Pendleton, Fortville, Chesterfield,
Ingalls, Lapel, Edgewood, Frankton, Summitville, Markleville,
Orestes, Woodlawn Heights, Country Club Heights and River Forest.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
