...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM CDT THIS EVENING
FOR DUBUQUE COUNTY...

At 430 PM CDT, emergency management reported earlier thunderstorms
had produced heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 3
inches of rain have already fallen. Additional storms producing
rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area.
There have been some public reports of some neighborhood flooding as
well, thus flash flooding is occurring.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Emergency management reported.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Dubuque, Asbury, Cascade, Epworth, Farley, Peosta, Worthington,
Rickardsville, Sherrill, Centralia, Sageville, Bernard, Zwingle,
Bankston, Durango, Graf, Lattnerville, Dubuque County Fairgrounds,
Camp Little Cloud and Swiss Valley Park.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...Portions of Illinois, including the following areas,
Bureau, Carroll, Hancock, Henderson, Henry IL, Jo Daviess,
McDonough, Mercer, Putnam, Rock Island, Stephenson, Warren and
Whiteside, Iowa, including the following areas, Benton, Buchanan,
Cedar, Clinton, Delaware, Des Moines, Dubuque, Henry IA, Iowa,
Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Jones, Keokuk, Lee, Linn, Louisa,
Muscatine, Scott, Van Buren and Washington, and northeast
Missouri, including the following areas, Clark and Scotland.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.
