For the Wind Advisory, northwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. * WHERE...In Connecticut, Northern Fairfield, Northern New Haven, Southern Fairfield, and Southern New Haven Counties. In New York, Northern Nassau, Northwest Suffolk, Southern Nassau, and Southwest Suffolk Counties. * WHEN...For the Extreme Cold Warning, until 1 PM EST Sunday. For the Wind Advisory, until midnight EST tonight. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. The cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... ...GALE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM EST SUNDAY... ...HEAVY FREEZING SPRAY WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON EST SUNDAY... * WHAT...For the Gale Warning, northwest winds 25 to 35 kt with gusts up to 45 kt. Seas 3 to 6 feet on Long Island Sound. For the Heavy Freezing Spray Warning, heavy freezing spray at a rate of 2 cm per hour or greater may rapidly accumulate on vessels. * WHERE...Long Island Sound. * WHEN...For the Gale Warning, until 6 AM EST Sunday. For the Heavy Freezing Spray Warning, until noon EST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Operating a vessel in heavy freezing spray is hazardous. Freezing spray may render mechanical and electronic components inoperative. Rapid ice accretion on decks and superstructures may result in a catastrophic loss of stability. Strong winds will cause hazardous seas which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners should prepare for dangerous accumulation of ice on their vessel. If possible, remain in port, avoid the warning area or conduct mitigation.
