...BLIZZARD WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM MONDAY TO MIDNIGHT AKST MONDAY NIGHT... * WHAT...Blizzard conditions expected. Total snow accumulations between 3 and 7 inches. Winds gusting as high as 55 mph. * WHERE...Kuskokwim Delta Coast, north of the Kuskokwim River, and Western Capes. * WHEN...From 3 AM Monday to midnight AKST Monday Night. * IMPACTS...Visibilities reduced to one quarter mile or less due to blowing snow. Whiteout conditions are expected and will make travel very difficult. Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A strong storm will move into the Kuskokwim Region tonight, bringing moderate to heavy snowfall, paired with gusty SE winds for periods of whiteout conditions; this storm will begin to weaken by Monday night. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Blizzard Warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds and poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout conditions, making travel very hazardous. If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle. Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains, booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing.
