Blizzard Warning
Issued: 4:08 AM Jan. 16, 2026 – National Weather Service
...BLIZZARD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 AM AKST SATURDAY... * WHAT...Blizzard conditions. Additional snow accumulations between 3 and 8 inches - highest towards Trims Camp. Winds gusting as high as 65 mph in Windy Pass and up to 80 mph in Isabel Pass north of Trims Camp. * WHERE...Eastern Alaska Range North of Trims Camp and Northern Denali Borough. * WHEN...Until 3 AM AKST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Very strong winds could cause tree damage. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Most of the snow will fall tonight through Friday morning. The strongest southerly winds will occur Friday afternoon and evening. There will be gusty winds and the potential for blizzard conditions prior to this which is why the warning begins at 3 AM Thursday morning. With the strongest winds on Friday, temperatures will warm, potentially up to 40 degrees above zero and this could result in any precipitation being rain or freezing rain/drizzle. The confidence in freezing rain/drizzle is low right now, but non-zero. As temperatures warm, the threat of blowing snow diminishes and visibilities are expected to improve. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1. &&
