...LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM EST WEDNESDAY... * WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations 5 to 10 inches in the most persistent lake snows extending from northern Chautauqua county northeastward across the far Buffalo Southtowns...with 3 to 5 inches across far western Wyoming county. Less than 2 inches of additional accumulation across southern Chautauqua County, and all but the far northwest corner of Cattaraugus County. * WHERE...Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Southern Erie Counties. * WHEN...Until 10 AM EST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Travel will be very difficult with very poor visibility and deep snow cover on roads. Some major roadways could temporarily close. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Consider delaying travel. If you must travel, drive with extreme caution. Leave plenty of room between you and the motorist ahead of you, and allow extra time to reach your destination. Avoid sudden braking or acceleration, and be especially cautious on hills or when making turns. You should stay indoors until conditions improve. If you must go outside, dress in layers. Several layers of clothes will keep you warmer than a single heavy coat. Cover exposed skin to reduce your risk of frostbite or hypothermia. Gloves, a scarf, and a hat will keep you from losing your body heat. &&

...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM EST WEDNESDAY... * WHAT...Bitterly cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero. * WHERE...Oswego, Lewis, Wyoming, Livingston, Ontario, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Allegany, and Southern Erie Counties. * WHEN...Until 11 AM EST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Bitterly cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero will cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Such wind chill values can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... This is a potentially hazardous situation to be outdoors. If you must be outside, be sure to cover all exposed skin. Frostbite can occur in 30 minutes or less with apparent temperatures of 15 below zero or colder. Use caution while traveling outside. For the Small Craft Advisory, west winds 15 to 25 knots and waves 5 to 8 feet. * WHERE...The nearshore waters of Lake Erie from Ripley to Buffalo. * WHEN...For the Heavy Freezing Spray Warning, until 4 AM EST Wednesday. For the Small Craft Advisory, until 5 AM EST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Operating a vessel in heavy freezing spray is hazardous. Freezing spray may render mechanical and electronic components inoperative. Rapid ice accretion on decks and superstructures may result in a catastrophic loss of stability. Winds and/or waves will cause hazardous conditions that could capsize or damage small craft. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners should prepare for dangerous accumulation of ice on their vessel. If possible, remain in port, avoid the warning area or conduct mitigation. Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, should avoid navigating in hazardous conditions. &&
