...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT FROM THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH THIS EVENING... * WHAT...High wave action, strong currents, and dangerous swimming conditions expected. * WHERE...Muskegon, Ottawa, Allegan and Van Buren counties. * WHEN...From mid afternoon through this evening. * IMPACTS...Strong currents can pull swimmers into deeper water and high waves can batter and exhaust swimmers trying to swim back to land. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The swim risk is likely to increase later in the day as winds strengthen and waves build toward 3 to 5 feet. Winds will be from the northwest late in the day. Some of the beaches with a relatively higher swim risk today include Muskegon State Park, Holland State Park, and South Haven North Beach. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions and do not venture out on piers. Please check with your local authorities on potential beach closures. &&
