The mayor of Mineral Wells, Texas, declared a local disaster after severe storms and a radar-confirmed tornado decimated homes and industrial buildings across the city Tuesday. Jaw-dropping video captures the widespread damage that left people injured. Here’s the latest.

Day six of severe storms across the Plains and Midwest brought destruction to Germantown, Illinois. This video gives you a first look at the homes reduced to piles of twisted metal and debris Monday night.

It is no surprise that southern Georgia is under exceptional drought, the highest level of drought on the U.S. Drought Monitor. But, there is another factor for why these wildfires exploded in acreage burned. It has to do with Hurricane Helene, which leveled numerous trees across south Georgia, providing fuel for the future fires. Teams from the National Weather Service will be spread out across southeast Kansas after multiple tornadoes were reported in the region late Sunday night. They’ll be taking a close look at the damage in Oswego, where trees were torn down onto homes, at least one building was ripped apart and a freight train was flipped on its side.
