A wildfire that started Wednesday afternoon quickly became California’s largest of 2025 so far. Named the Madre Fire, it burned more than 54 square miles of land in just 13 hours and forced dozens of people to evacuate. It also closed part of a key highway through San Luis Obispo County. A virga storm slammed Las Vegas on Tuesday, bringing winds up to 70 mph to the area. Nearly 50 power poles were knocked down, causing power outages to thousands in the process. Surprisingly, not much rain was produced by the storm, as most of the rain evaporated before it was able to reach the ground.
