Multiple pileups, jackknifed semis and crashed cars shut down a portion of westbound Interstate 94 in western Minnesota on Tuesday. Snow and ice made the roadways treacherous. From 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Minnesota State Patrol troopers responded to 27 crashes — including multiple pileups — 75 vehicles that had run off the road and 13 separate jackknifed semis. One non-life-threatening injury was reported.

Newly named Winter Storm Bellamy will be the winter storm that will impact holiday travel after Thanksgiving. Snow will move back into the Northern Plains Friday, then shift southeast into the Midwest and Great Lakes Saturday. This winter storm will bring snow farther south when compared to Alston to places like Des Moines, Omaha, Chicago, St. Louis and Detroit.
