NOAA’s latest climate update about one of the biggest drivers for this spring and summer is here.

A warming trend will continue through the rest of the week and into the upcoming Valentine’s weekend. Temperatures will end up a good 15-25 degrees above average Thursday and Friday across the Plains with highs in the 60s as far north as South Dakota. The ridge of high pressure and the core of the warmth will shift east next week, allowing the Northeast to finally get in on the warmer weather fun. The forecast is becoming more clear regarding the upcoming Valentine’s weekend storm. Computers models are coming into agreement and showing more rain than snow across the Northeast. The latest timing shows the rain moving in late Sunday, possibly changing over to a little bit of snow around the I-95 corridor. Minor accumulations are possible.
