It's already rewritten March, even April, record books. This March heat wave still has some gas left in the tank this week. Here are some of the records that have already fallen and what's in store.

As severe storms hit New York City, lightning put on quite the show over One World Trade Center. Standing at 1,776 feet high, it’s the city's tallest skyscraper and its spire is a lightning rod by design. Electrifying video (pun intended) captured bolts striking the landmark tower over and over again.

Severe storms are forecast to develop across the Midwest and Ohio Valley late Thursday afternoon into Thursday night. A level 2 out of 5 severe threat includes places like Indianapolis, Columbus, Cincinnati and Fort Wayne. Damaging wind gusts, large hail and tornadoes will all be possible along with the threat for heavy rain. Unfortunately, there’s none in the forecast, because this week is dry with a capital D-R-Y. Tree pollen reigns supreme right now, but grass pollen is starting to make its move from the Southern Plains to the Gulf Coast.

When a fire was “getting out of hand” on Saturday in southern Iowa, crews enlisted the help of a local farmer and his trusty tractor. The fire started as an unattended burn barrel and spread quickly due to high temperatures, low humidity and gusty winds. The farmer immediately jumped into action, plowing a firebreak in a field.
