A clipper will bring another round of quick-hitting snow to the Northeast. Snow will develop across western New York Tuesday morning and then expand east reaching the I-95 corridor near Boston just in time for the Tuesday evening commute. A widespread swath of 1-3 inches looks likely for many, including Boston, with higher totals possible across Upstate New York and the higher elevations. A semitractor-trailer driver had an unwelcome winter surprise in Michigan. As the semi drove along northbound U.S. 31 in Grand Haven Township, a 6-foot pile of snow on the trailer smashed a traffic light. Deputies with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office stopped the truck. Michigan State Police were also called to the scene and they refused to let the truck leave until the snowpile was cleared.
A new crack in the iced-over Lake Erie is so huge, you can see it from space. The massive opening stretches for dozens of miles, and it’s coming with a warning about the danger of venturing out onto the frozen, but unstable landscape.
