Cold and windy weather will be felt across the eastern half of the U.S. as we head into the New Year’s holiday. Subzero wind chills will be felt across the upper Midwest and interior portions of the Northeast in places like Minneapolis, Chicago, Detroit and Buffalo. Wednesday and Thursday mornings will be the coldest across the Deep South as temperatures drop below freezing and wind chills plummet into the 20s as far south as Florida. Lake-Effect Snow Machine To Dump 1-2 Feet Of Snow

The lake-effect snow machine will continue to dump heavy snow across the Great Lakes and interior portions of the Northeast through Thursday. One to 2 feet of additional snow will be possible in places just northeast of Cleveland, into Erie and across the Buffalo Southtowns. Travel will be impacted and could become difficult or impossible at times.
