Multiple systems are pushing across the Northern Tier of the country through the weekend, bringing heavy snow to the Great Lakes, Ohio Valley and Northeast.

Some models and plenty of social media hype have proposed that the South could see some accumulating snow this weekend. We look at what might be fact or fiction.

While it's a popular destination for skiers, resorts have had to close slopes because of the high avalanche danger. A controlled snow release designed to lessen that risk, sent people running, as a wall of snow descended on them.
