Sumter, SC (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: This is a view of the stretch of buildings just as you enter the site, looking towards the back of the property. Most of these were built with wood from derelict buildings in and around Sumter, so they do look original. Two of the buildings are original and were donated and moved here.

You're welcome, Briar.

My brother built those outdoor fire pits with the overhead bracing to hang pots from.

I went back up for one of those living history days.

During the living history days, volunteers would dress up in clothing of the time and cook over those fires.

There was one woman who would bake bread in the outdoor oven.

They even had fellows in the blacksmith shop, pounding iron. They would sell the pieces they made and, I imagine, donate the money to the Museum.
