Ailanthus Moth

Uploaded by: ChrisAnthemum

Saturday October 27, 2012

Westfield, NC (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: Atteva punctella, or ailanthus webworm moth, is actually not uncommon around here, but today there were half a dozen or more on the chrysanthemums in my garden. I would never have learned their name except that other people on this site have asked what these small but colorful moths are. Uncropped image.

Thanks, Gene, Genie, and Jan! I certainly don't have all the answers; I learn things here every day just as others do, but I'm always glad to share anything I do know or can find out.
