GOLLY!! I did not realize there were so many comments here,,I know, the shots are not the greatest,,but I share them and our experience with you,and excitement, because, this does NOT happen every day!! We were totally taken by surprise,,and did not really take many opps to get pix,,since we did not want to bother them much,,as you can understand! Sometimes,,if only our 'eye's could be hooked up to something that takes the best pix of what we see...?Thanks so much Friends!!:))

Okay, I have to admit I'm a little jealous! I
love cardinals and they just can't be found in least not anywhere I have been.
Maybe it's just too dry for them. But to have them
right on your porch..with babies..heaven! Lucky
you, Mindi! This shot is amazing!

I forgot to mention! We were fortunate to have a Cardinal pair make a nest on our porch,on top of a small space where the column meets the roof...several times,,house finches have done this, but any severe weather we had blew it down before they could actually lay their eggs,,well,,this year,,another was built, and figured the same thing,,until I kept hearing the cardinal pair 'chipping' alot on the porch,,and hanging all around! Next thing we know,,'MAMA' is sitting on the nest!! The turnbuckle helped keep it safe and sound as well! They had 3 babies, and they have already left the nest today,,after like 2 weeks it seems. I did not hear any 'peeps' until about a week ago..anyhoo..Papa here perched close with 'supper',and I grabbed a few quick shots, then hurried inside to give them a little privacy..:) I am so happy they chose our porch to nest on.We dearly love these birds!

About BEME

Hi KIDDIES!!! O.K.,,there seems to be a bit of confusion about this photo,,,I AM on the left,,a gal!![MINDI],,and the right-hand pic is of BOB my hubby!! I cloned the two images together,,of us taking pics of each other,,so we could give you folks an idea of who we are,,replacing the previous photo of our two favorite eagle family youngsters...We live in Shenandoah,Ia.,,and enjoy [especially me] taking lots of pictures!! I do most of the posting on here,,that's MY thing..and I try to put up Bobs when he takes some good ones...I would also like for you to check out the older ones from time,to time,,I like to share my images,,though not always the greatest,,just to give you an idea what life is sometimes like here in S.W. Iowa.. I came out here from the East Coast and interior New England, where I lived until 1992,,I also lived in Philly for a few years, and Bob is born and raised here in Shenandoah.,,but loves other places that we have visited too. I am happy to have found this site to learn how to take better photos,,meet new people, and make new friends, and be dazzled by what folks share of their 'world'in pictures on here. THANK YOU WuNDERGROUND! I appreciate all your kind words and mail, and critique as much as I enjoy giving back in kind! SHARE THE LOVE!!
