Valley City, ND (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: Aftermath of the Christmas blizzard that left 18 inches of snow. The county snowplow came the following Monday, but the operator gave the mailbox such a wide berth that the mailman had to wade through 12 feet of snow and piled so much additional snow in front of my car that I don't know when I'll ever get out. Guess he thought the snow Mother Nature left wasn't enough - that's MEEEEEAN!! Update: The response was heartwarming! Some friends with a snowplow set it to rights as soon as they knew about it. The guy who told me it had been fixed was a Faith In Action volunteer who had come to take me to town but found I didn't need it. Another volunteer was also willing to come out - and when I got to town on my own, I met her for some fun shopping instead. While I was blocked in, yet another friend brought medicine on a morning when it was at least 10 below, and the mailmen came anyway, wading through all that snow whenever I had any mail. The colder the weather, the warmer the people, and Valley City, ND, is a great place to live!

About sdianas

I am primarily a musician (full-time arranger and occasional performer), but also love to take photos! How I would love to be able to capture details of trees, etc., against a sunset or in other dark conditions! I have a Canon A510 and a Canon S40, but neither of them can do it, perhaps because there are settings I am unaware of. If anyone can advise me how to get this effect, which I see often in Wunderground photos, I would be very grateful.
