No, unfortunately, deer don't always figure out what cars are going to do (just keep coming) and end up victims. This deep snow and severe cold has taken it's toll on the herds this winter. The DNR has stepped up their feeding program, trying to save as many as they can. And, yes, it's been a lean winter for predator birds too.

Judging from the poor befuddled deer in the other photo, it seems not all the poor befuddled deer get that challenge figured out in time. Lucky for the eagle, though, as it's been a hungry winter for him. This series certainly tells a story.

I hope the eagle defrosts the meat properly before eating! :-) Must be very hard for the animals when it is that cold.

About minnesotamom

Hi! My name is Kathy and I live in northern Minnesota, USA, where the winter temps have dipped down to -60º below zero F. The summers used to be mild but in recent years have been up in the 90ºs. I love being able to travel the world from my office chair, through all your great photos! I've learned tons about photography and editing photos thanks to all the great people on here and their willingness to share tips. Thank you to all you Wunderfriends who take time to look and leave notes---I deeply appreciate it. :-)
