Datil, NM (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: The bright light toward the bottom right is just a plane, the Perseid is in the middle of the frame. The fuzzy bit below it is the Andromeda Galaxy, the farthest thing from us that we can see without the aid of any optical device. There is also a faint satellite toward the upper right. A 13 second exp. at f/3.5 ISO 3200 taken around 9:30 PM, long before Perseus rose above the horizon.

As a former astronomer I am an avid sky watcher. I have lived in New Mexico for a dozen years and am constantly amazed by the beautiful skies. My favorite subjects to photograph are the skies of course, cats (I rescue strays), and robots (I have a HUGE collection). If you would like to see more photographs of any of the above be sure to visit my photo galleries at www.flickr.com/inlightful or www.inlightfulimages.com Thanks for looking! Colleen
