Banská Bystrica, Slovakia

Caption: Banska Bystrica is the 6th largest city of Slovakia now. This territory had been settled well in the past and its rapid growth started with the beginning of intensive copper and gold mining. The first written report of the town comes from 1255. The Hungarian King Belo IV honored the settlement by turning it into a town. The Clock Tower is situated at the top of Banská Bystrica historical square. This tower was built in 1566 and it is wellknown as "An Oblique Tower", because it´s vertical axis deviation is 68 cm.
