Lahti, Finland

Caption: On a ski journey across the firm ice-covered lake Vesijärvi from Lahti to Vääksy. A cross-country ski trail about 25 km long connects the two cities on the south and north lake shore. The lake has numerous island, bays and peninsulas and is surrounded by forests. The ice will soon be starting to melt and in a few weeks the gentle sound of waves will be heard again on the shores.

the track goes on the frozen lake, completely flat. sometimes is faster to ski free-style on the hard-packed snow. In forest you can also ski but now there are lots of needles as it was dry for most of march. Today we have heavy rain so it looks like the long winter is over :-)

That is a lot of flat skiing, 25km. Does the track go through the woods at all? No snowmobiles I hope, you could probably hear them 25km away on a frozen lake!
