That's awesome! I woulda have stayed to take more pictures..maybe taken a step closer. Black bears won't attack unless they feel threatened or are with cubs...and as long as you fight back, you should be fine. I keep hoping to see one again up here..only seen one once and it was a lot farther away than 8 ft! Good job!

Such an excellent shot. He is a handsome specimen of a bear... looks very healthy. Probably from eating all those tourists. Those nice crunchy cameras and binoculars keep his teeth sharpened... LOL! Stay safe.

8ft away????!!!! NO WAY! That is scary. You
better be careful! Hahaha...like in that movie
the city lady on a hiking camping trip walks
fron the campfire to the tent beating two
sticks together to keep the mountain lions
away. What's the name of that movie....
Parent Trap I think it was! That's a great
shot but you probably should have been
backing away!

About DesertNomad

Thanking all of you for comments on my photos, I imagine you won't see it. So I want to thank you profusely here, where you will, for all your wonderful comments and support. Most of my work is found under the name Pat Goltz (with or without space) on various art sites. I have been doing art seriously for over ten years. In addition to photography, I do digital art, including fractals, abstracts, Hubisms, and digital landscapes. For fractals, I use Ultrafractal, Xenodream, or Apophysis. Most of my landscapes are done in Terragen. A Hubism is a type of abstract that is done in Bryce or Vue d'Esprit. In photography, I do mostly nature, including landscapes, flowers, birds, insects, and other subjects, as well as urban photography. I like to provide beauty, and my photography is for people who cannot go where I go, so that they may enjoy the beauty. Soli Deo Gloria.
