Pfafftown, NC (Current Weather Conditions)

Caption: Decided to drive to a favorite rose nursery where I hadn't been in about 3 years, and photograph the beautiful grounds. Alas, this is what I found -- for sale, neglect starting to show, no one around during what should have been the busiest time of year. I have met the owner; she grows all her roses from cuttings, not grafts. I am currently making inquiries to see if I can find out what happened. More pictures to come later.

Thank you, Becky... I sent inquiries to two email addresses; one bounced back and the other has not been answered. I suppose I could call the phone number on the sign, but that is the owners' personal phone number, and I don't want to disturb them unnecessarily or give them false hope that I'm interested in buying the place.

Thanks a lot, Rodney; don't think I don't wish I could! Unfortunately, I'm not doing a very good job of taking care of what I already have; there's no way I could take on the management of a business like this, even if it were given to me free.

Looks like an opportunity for you to enter the gardening business.

Thanks, Elaine! It makes me wonder if there's been a death in that family. You might have heard the saying, "When a gardener dies, the garden does too." Unfortunately, all too true. Many a garden I've planted has died because I moved away and sold it to someone else who had no idea how to keep it alive.
