Watches & Warnings

Ice Storm Warning
Issued: 6:01 PM PST Dec. 9, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Ice Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 am PST Saturday for
the western Columbia River gorge...

An Ice Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 am PST Saturday.

* Timing... through tonight.

* Ice accumulations... additional ice accumulation of around one
half of an inch expected by early Saturday morning. This
will bring total ice accumulations since Thursday to three
quarters of an inch to one and a half inches.

* Impacts... travel will be extremely difficult if not
impossible in some areas. Highways 84 and 14 will be
treacherous due to substantial icing. Significant tree
damage and power outages are likely. It may take a couple
days for some secondary roads to thaw sufficiently for
travel.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

An Ice Storm Warning means severe winter weather conditions are
expected or occurring. Significant icing will make travel
dangerous or impossible. Travel is strongly discouraged. If you
must travel... keep an extra flashlight... food... and water in your
vehicle in case of an emergency. Ice accumulations and winds will
likely lead to falling tree branches and snapped power lines that
will add to the danger.
