... High wind watch in effect from late tonight through Friday
afternoon...

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a high
wind watch, which is in effect from late tonight through Friday
afternoon.

* Location... south central mountains and southwest Chaves County.

* Winds... southwest 35 to 45 mph with occasional gusts to 60 mph.

* Timing... winds increasing after midnight and peaking mid day
Friday before gradually decreasing.

* Visibility... localized restrictions in blowing dust likely.

* Local impacts... unsecured objects may become airborne, power
lines may topple over and roofs may be damaged. Power outages
will be possible. Cross winds will be dangerous, especially for
high profile vehicles.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Remember, a high wind watch means conditions are favorable for a
potentially damaging high wind event in and close to the watch
area. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph
or more can lead to property damage. Monitor the latest forecasts
at weather.Gov/abq, listen to NOAA Weather Radio or your favorite
media outlet.

below 7000 feet. Fire weather zone 055. Fire weather zone 056.

* Wind... 20 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph.

* Humidity... 5 to 13 percent.

* Highest threat... is located over The Lowlands east of the Rio
Grande. A cold front will move in from the west during the
afternoon and raise humidities west of the river.

* Impacts... any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.
