The National Weather Service in Duluth MN has issued a

* flood advisory for...
southeastern St. Louis County in northeastern Minnesota...
northeastern Carlton County in northeastern Minnesota...
northwestern Douglas County in northwestern Wisconsin...

* until 1115 PM CDT

* at 810 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause localized
flooding in the advisory area. The Duluth Airport has reported a
half inch of rain in the last hour, with 1.58 inches so far today.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Duluth, Superior, Cloquet, Hermantown, Proctor, Scanlon, Carlton,
Mahtowa, Barnum, Wrenshall, Oliver, Thomson, Wisconsin Point,
Arnold, Irving, Pleasant Valley, Cody, Park point, Billings Park,
and Gary New Duluth.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
