...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM CDT THIS MORNING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Coffey and Lyon Counties. * WHEN...Until 1100 AM CDT Monday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 219 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 2 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. - This replaces the Flash Flood Warnings that are set to expire at 2:30 AM CDT. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Emporia, Burlington, Olpe, Gridley and Le Roy. - This includes the following highways... Kansas Turnpike between mile markers 117 and 130. Interstate 35 between mile markers 128 and 134. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. &&
