...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT NORTH CENTRAL LARAMIE COUNTY THROUGH 545 PM MDT... At 508 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Whitaker, or 20 miles north of Cheyenne, moving east at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Small, accumulating hail may cause roadways to become slick. This storm will remain over mainly rural areas of north central Laramie County. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Precipitation rates of 1 to 2 inches in an hour or less may occur locally in the strongest thunderstorms.
